We are having two computers one of which is a Desktop running on Win7 64-bit connected to internet access through LAN with the router and another one is a laptop running on Win7 32-bit connected to internet access through wireless with the router. The desktop can observe both the computers  on the network map as well as on the < Computer – Network> link. But the laptop can only observe the computers on the network map. It cannot see on the < Computer – Network> link, hence it is unable o access the desktop. Laptop can be pinged by the desktop but  desktop cannot be pinged by laptop and the laptop gets timed out if attempted to ping desktop. Also given a try for network trouble shooting with no luck. Both the PC have got Norton 360 with the firewall turned off  but still it isn’t working. Anticipating that u got what I am trying to understand. Please give me some ideas to get it fixed. Thank you.

Hi SofieV,

You may want to disconnect the computer not being detected on the network to the hub, switch or router (LAN Connection) or via the Connection Wizard (Wireless Connection). Try to run Network Diagnostics to see why the computer is having issues being seen or connecting to the network.

It also might be that the computer is set to not be discovered on a network. You can change the settings by going to Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Click on the down arrow key > Choose Network Discovery and turn on Network discovery option.
