Computer is slow after installing an anti-virus.
It is a common problem of any computer user. When you install any Antivirus in your computer, it should be loaded in to the system, when you start the computer the Antivirus protects your computer at all times. If any threat is found in your computer the Antivirus starts to work on it.
If any program loads itself into the system and including Antivirus software, it would consume some memory of your computer every time. So if your computer does not have enough memory, it should be low in memory. If so the Antivirus affects the performance of your computer. For this problem you can increase the system memory of your computer.

Some Antivirus such as BitDefender will only work in higher systems. Make sure your computer meets it's minimum requirements before running that Antivirus.
Actually all Antivirus will slow your computer by some amount because all Antivirus has a feature called Real Time protection. This always runs on your system and scans the files that you open or save. This helps prevent any virus from running. You can turn off this in the Antivirus options but this will leave your system very vulnerable. This is the best defense against virus so I recommend you not to do it.
Try other means of speeding up your system such as:
- Cleaning the registry using a registry cleaner
- Defragmenting your hard drives
- Uninstalling unnecessary programs

Hello,
The computer is slow after installing the Antivirus because the Antivirus is scanning your computer to see, if your unit is affected. All your files or data in the hard disk will be scanned to check if there is any virus to avoid errors to your system and then to protect your computer from any threat.Â
If your system is slow, you must upgrade your memory, to have a lot of memory because if not the unit will be slow. It can be affect the performance of your unit. If the Antivirus is scanning, just simply stop the scanning and change the scanning. Go to the Antivirus properties, right click the icon and then at the bottom right on the screen view the control center of the scanner and chose your options.
