Good Day!

Please help me with my problem.

Server 2008 R2 uses different share functionality with Server 2008 machines the coach is using in his videos during set up of shares and files sharing permissions. The option for CONTRIBUTE permission level.

Why is the difference so?

Thank for your time.

Hi Chaster,

Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 have similar operating system, just at a different service pack level. On the other hand, Windows Server 2008 R2 launch relatively a lot of new features, since actually it's a latest version of the system. It introduce new functionality, improved reliability, enhancement to Windows services that offer seamless performance and better flexibility for users.

Concerning the use of Contribute permission level, only administrator grants authorization to the report server. First, you need consent to the report server before accessing such files and functionality in the server. As you mention, you want a video in a specific folder, depending on your needs and tasks, only the administrator may grant a lower or higher authorization. Permissions with lower privileges are authorized to users who need only to open shared reports while users with higher privileges can access and modify a shared report.

A.Wright
