It happened to me a few days ago and since then I couldn't get connected to the internet from that computer no matter what I did.
I then went to my notebook and read a few articles about conime.exe and how it might affect incoming traffic as well as how to remove it.
I have searched for it in my notebook, and there was no trace of conime.exe where as in my desktop computer was.
Should I consider deleting it through unlocker as reinstalling Windows didn't quite do the trick?
(that's the only viable way I have read about).

Is conime really a virus ? (Windows XP)
Yes comin.exe affects your computer and you can remove it by simple steps if you don't want to change or remove your Windows.
Then just to simply remove this from your computer go to Start menu then click on Run and the type comin.exe unregistered the service of service.dll in your windows system. Now you will be asked how to remove the service.
It's also a very simple process.
Just click on Start then click on Run and type REGSVR32/u then C:windowssystemservice.dl and then press enter button from your Keyboard and then reboot your computer.
Hope this will help you.

When conime.exe is located in C:/windows there are possibilities that some viruses and Malwares are hiding as conime.exe.
