Hallo,

Is it possible for me to connect two Sata hard drives to two Sata connectors, as well as, a DVD burner to IDE connector? However, they have to be on the same motherboard.

Thanks you.

Hi Jerry,

I am going to assume that you already have an IDE to SATA motherboard adapter. If so, all you need to do is to count the number of IDE slots free for you to install another hard drive and a dvd drive. Most computers only have 2 IDE slots, so you need to buy a PCI adapter containing additional IDE slots. I hope this helps.

Motherboards before support only IDE slots or ports but newer motherboards today support both IDE and SATA ports. But with the speed in the advancement of technology, computer manufacturers are now beginning to take down support for IDE little by little. There are motherboards nowadays that have complete support for SATA but no support for IDE.

If you want to connect two SATA hard drives and one IDE optical drive, you need to find a motherboard that supports both IDE and SATA ports. You can connect only one drive per SATA port and normally there are four (4) SATA ports on a motherboard. That means you can have four (4) SATA drives on your computer.
