Connection between these two: RTSP over WAP

Hi. I came over this two words: RTSP and WAP. I looked for their definitions and both of them has something to do with the network. I just want to know the connection between RTSP over WAP. Thanks in advance!

Hi Hawkins,

Let me firstly define those two words: RTSP and WAP. RTSP is Real Time Streaming Protocol used in entertainment and communications. Some of applications that are using RTSP protocol:

• GStreamer
• Media Player Classic
• QuickTime
• RealPlayer
• Skype
• VLC media player
• Winamp
• Windows Media Player
• JetAudio

WAP is Wireless Application Protocol. Essentially, WAP is streamlined version of WWW (World Wide Web). WAP protocol is mainly used by small handheld mobile phones. Basically you can stream RTSP content over WAP network. That is the connection between WAP and RTSP.
