In joining a Windows XP computer to a Windows Server 2003 domain, you should first make sure to use Windows XP professional, Home edition won’t be fully used.

Also put it into your mind that when joining, you will have the classic look on your log on screen and loose the “Fast User Switcher”, unless reverted to workgroup mode.

Ok, to start joining follow these steps:

1. Go to Start menu then right click “My Computer” and choose properties,

2. Go to the “Computer Name” tab and click change, it’ll show a new window,

3. In that window, click the “Domain” button.

4. Put in your domain name (excluding the extension), ex. if your domain name is "techy.test", only type "techy",

5. Click “OK”.

6. You will be directed to a prompt for the username and password,

7. Type in the account for the Domain Administrator.

8. Click “OK”, a message will come out welcoming you to the domain,

9. You need to reboot your computer, it is required.
