It is so sad to read about your hard drive crash after defragmentation. Sounds like your hard drive is simply failed. May be it was already a defective drive, or it may have been the result of several scratching on the hard disc, etc. Usually it happens after the defragmentation. Better buy new hard drive for some cheap bucks to get the system backup.

Get a  Sata hard drive and connect it with system. You may be able to successfully low level format the drive with the other computer(in case you have other around).

Once you are done formatting, you can try reinstalling the operating system again.

Good Luck

Before you do a defragmentation of your hard drive, be sure to check it first for any possible errors. Because if there is a problem in the file system of the drive, defragmenting it can cause file corruption and can sometimes lead to crashing of the operating system. But there are disk utility applications that automatically check the hard drive for errors before defragmenting it.

When Windows is doing a defragmentation of the hard drive it can never be interrupted or else your system will be in a total wreck. If you need to interrupt the process, you can click the Pause or Stop button so the application will stop the process. But since your computer restarted while in the middle of the defragmentation process, I think Windows encountered a system failure that’s why it automatically restarted. And because you are currently defragmenting the hard drive, the process was suddenly aborted and as a result and should be expected, the hard drive is already corrupted.

I’m not sure if at this stage you can still recover any of your files from the hard drive. And because of what happened, it made a great impact on the partition. I’m sure accessing the partition is no longer possible and the only best solution left would be to delete the whole partition and then create a new one.
