Hi All,
There is a Trojan:DOS/alureon.a on vista and i used Microsoft Security Essentials and it did nothing to it other than identifying it. Keeps on freezing my Toshiba Laptop and pop-ups appear, and Windows can't check for updates. How can I get rid of this?
How to recover Windows Vista from Trojan Virus
Recovery instructions could be found at this Microsoft link here.
A full Windows Vista installation disk is needed to do that repair. The recovery disk from manufacturer does not work.
TDSS killer from Kaspersky might be working properly and you can find the details here TDSS killer from Kaspersky
You shall also try the offline security scanning and here is the link of Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper at Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper.
How to recover Windows Vista from Trojan Virus
Hi!
Trojan: DOS/alureon.a is a rootkit, to remove it you have to have an anti-rootkit utility in your computer. Download TDSSKiller from Kaspersky Lab. Once downloaded, right click on TDSSkiller.exe file and click on "Run as Administrator" to install. Allow it to run, if it detects the rootkit, choose whether to delete or quarantine the detected rootkit.
