If the mouse pad has stopped working, it can be a hardware problem. If that is the case, you will have no option but to call up customer service. But before you pick up the phone, you can try the following.
Check if you have disabled the touchpad by mistake. On your keyboard, you will find a key with the touchpad made over it with a cross. This key is used to enable and disable the mouse pad. Press this key with function. Check if it starts working. Check the mouse drivers. If this does not work, call customer service.
If you have or you are using a laptop and the mouse pad or touch pad suddenly stops working, check if your laptop has a disable button near the touchpad. The touchpad in a laptop has two buttons on top for you to perform a left and right click. There is another button, a third button, which functions as a disable button for the touchpad.
When you press this button, the touchpad will be disabled. This is normally used when you want to use a normal mouse instead of the touchpad to avoid moving the mouse pointer when your hand or finger touches the touchpad. If your laptop supports this feature, press the button to deactivate it and allow you to use the touchpad again.
If this doesn’t work or your laptop doesn’t support or doesn’t include the disable button, try to uninstall and reinstall the touchpad driver. Visit your laptop manufacturer’s website and download the latest driver for your touchpad.
