Desktop cannot access the internet but I can ping

Check your LAN card, if you are using a DHCP or OBTAINED.  If settings are obtained, it needs to key in the IP address, Gate way and the DNS what your ISP provider gave.

If you can ping the gateway, it means the problem lies in the DNS. Â Try to check through pinging the same way, you did in your gateway. Â
If it still does not work, check your modem or router if both are ok. If the problem persists, the problem lies in your ISP provider or you have been disconnected.

To solve your current problem, you have to contact your ISP provider. You need your IP Getaway and DNS. Set up your LAN settings with the IPS-provided Getaway, DNS, and user ID and password. After you complete the entire setup, restart your PC, then your PC will ready to connect to the internet.
