You can manually update the latest version of Microsoft Security Essentials from the internet. Some information like Windows Version and OS environment should be well known before installing the update. Go to the web page of Microsoft where you will be prompted to download the file for a 64 or 32-bit OS. Run the file and Save it to the PC acting as an Administrator. Continue to install until the Wizard closes. Open the software and click on Update to update the antivirus to the latest version.
