Hello,
I have a portable hard disk which I have purchased recently. I have connected it and my pc seems to be able to detect the device and the message has also shown as successfully installed. But now I cannot see the hard disk drive in my computer. I checked out the total memory but there is not sign of it. Please someone help me with this issue.

Hi,
It is supposed to install the portable hard disk automatically whenever the disk is connected with the computer. But there may be some problem with the portable hard disk. It may be writing protected. The portable disk may be corrupted with Virus if it is a normal portable disk functioned smoothly earlier. You can scan your portable disk with an updated antivirus. You can get your portable disk formatted but before formatting take backup of all necessary documents. You can make sure about the newly purchased portable driver whether working well with other computer or not. Check data cable if you feel necessary.
I hope you understand it.
Thanks

Portable hard drive means you are connecting it through a USB cable right? Do you hear any sounds when you attempt to connect it on your computer? Check on the Device Manager if the portable hard drive is listed on the Disk Drive or maybe under the USB Devices.
Have you tried connecting another hardware device on the USB port where you connected the portable hard drive and check if your computer can detect it? If not, then the problem is in your USB port. If it can detect another hardware device, then the portable hard drive could be the issue. If you just recently purchased it, I am sure that it is still under warranty. Try to ask for a replacement to where you bought it.
Another way is to try connecting the portable HD into another computer and see if it can detect it.

Have you check on the USB port if its properly connected or not? Try inserting a flash disk or anything that can test if the USB port is working or not. And also, you can check on the cables if it is damaged or broken. Another way is to test the portable hard drive if its properly working. Insert it to another computer and see if it will work. Did your computer recognize this new hardware the first time you inserted it to the USB port? Please consider those things so we can know what the problem really is.
