Different Exchange 2010 Server Roles Explained

These are the following roles of Exchange Server 2010.

• Mailbox Server: As the name suggests this server contains the mails database.
• Client Access Server: This server hosts all kinds of protocols and the different services that are used.
• Hub Transport Server: This server routes the different mails across the nodes.
• Edge Transport Server: This server manages the mails in and out on the boundary area.
• Unified Messaging Server: This combines the Exchange server with the private branch server.
