Hi, I am a new user of Magic Jack and when I try to make a call, I hear error 3002. I don’t have a router at the moment so I connected it directly to my modem. Do I need a router to make this work? Please help me I'm new to this. Thanks in advance.
Do I need to have a Router to enable Magic Jack?
I even have a magic jack. you can not connect the magic jack on to a router, because it states within the makers directions. you want to connect the magic jack to a USB port on your laptop solely, then connect it to your phone. sadly, it's nothing like Vonage. Vonage is on 24/7, regardless if your laptop is on or off, and your phone can invariably work 24/7. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Magic jack wants your laptop to be on so as for your phone to figure. When your laptop is off, your phone is off and then magic jack can automatically head to voice mail.
However, you'll be able to configure the magic jack to forward all of your calls to your mobile phone, regardless if your laptop is on or off, however the phone connected to the magic jack won't work/ring as a result of the magic jack is being forwarded to your mobile phone. you'd ought to undo the choice to forward to your mobile phone for you magic jack connected phone to figure (again, solely when your laptop is on). I would like magic jack would initiate with an update that will solely forward to your mobile phone solely when the pc is off, that will be therefore awesome.
As way as connecting the magic jack on to a router…YOU CAN'T. Nonetheless, you'll be able to use either a wired or wireless router (use a Gigabit N router, definitely). Lastly, the magic jack works ok, however the signal isn't invariably smart in several areas. I exploit my mobile phone as a back-up for areas with unhealthy or weak signals when using the magic jack. I hope this can help you.

Hello chad. It would have been clearer if I know that which version you are using. If you are using magic jack plus then you don’t need a router. Magic jack plus works with a router or a broadband modem. All you have to do is on the left of the MagicJack unit you have a socket for the phone cable and one for the LAN cable. Connect the LAN cable directly from MJ to your router. Try to reboot everything. Like the computer, the modem etc. Rebooting can solve much issue. By rebooting I mean to turn off and unplug everything. This may help you to get rid of this error.
