Do I need a Mac picture to pc converter?

A friend using Mac sent me picture files in my email.  I downloaded the files but I can't seem to open them.  I'm not sure but I think they are RAW files.  Do I need a Mac picture to PC converter to view them?  I'm on a Windows 8 system.  Thanks.

Do I need a Mac picture to pc converter?

Hi Hollis,

Windows do not know what to do if you will try to read a file without a file extension. Maybe you can ask your friend to put a file extension name ( that windows can read) on each item before your friend sends it back to you, so you will able to open those files.
