Do I need a Router for WiFi if I have a Modem?

Hey all,

I have a Modem using which, I run Internet on my PC. I want to use my WiFi on all my devices, other than my Computer. Do I need a Router for WiFiconnection, even if I have a Modem?

Hello,

I can understand your confusion between a Router and a Modem. The work of Modem is to convert Digital Signals to Analog Signals and vice-versa. A Router is used for routing the Signals to other Devices besides the Computer.

You will need a Router for setting up a WiFi Connection at your home, so that you can use WiFi on your Mobile Phones, Tablets, etc.

You can also buy Plug-and-play WiFi Dongle that do not require a separate Router.
