I badly need to backup my data and settings saved in my user profile for future migration in a new network domain. Could anyone provide me with any freeware that I could use for this purpose? Where could I get it? I’ve heard that a freeware copy user profile Windows solution is possible.

Hi Samantha,

It’s highly recommended to back up your files when you’re planning to upgrade to a different operating system or when you’re making necessary changes to your PC. If you’re using a Windows PC which runs on XP, Vista and 7, you can use the system back up tool but you may need an external hard drive for storage.

There’s also a feature called Windows Easy Transfer where you have three options to transfer your data: using an easy transfer cable, transfer to another computer using a network connection or using an external hard disk. If you’re looking for a back-up freeware, there are several freeware available for download like Ocster Backup Freeware Windows Edition. I honestly have not tried using a freeware for back-up so I can’t guarantee how safe it is.
