I am using Lenovo 3000 G400 C-Notebook with an operating system of “Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3”. I have also installed “Nero StartSmart” in it. I have no problem in writing and reading of a CD with DVD-RAM Drive. But I am facing a problem that it doesn’t work on DVD. I am unable to read or write a DVD on my computer.
To resolve the issue I have also tried to uninstall the” Optiarc DVD RW AD-7560A” from the Device Manager. But it does not work out for me. Please help me to resolve this issue.
DVD drive detected but not working in windows
The problem is simple first of all scan your laptop with the latest antivirus for any kind of threats, this problems could be because of viruses, malwares. On the other hand try and download the latest drivers for your DVD drive, and please check the DVD if it has too many scratches on it, if Yes then its might be the problem of DVD.
Most importantly if your laptop is under warranty then it’s better to visit the nearest service Centre to replace your DVD drive, as they are the best people who can guide you through the solution if the above solution does not help you in solving the problem you’re facing right now.
DVD drive detected but not working in windows
If what your saying is you can’t play DVD movies then you should get a DVD decoder or video player that plays almost anything I know VLC does that. But if you’re saying that it does not read anything including software, music disc and everything then it is probably a case of a dead DVD laser. Replacing the driver only does something on the software side.
Actually DVD drive has two laser diodes one laser is for the DVD’s and another one is for the CD’s so don’t be confused when your CD’s works fine while the DVD’s don’t It’s just normal. Now the only solution for a dead laser is to replace the drive itself.
How long have you been using it?
Maybe it is still under warranty.
