DVD/CD-ROM o.k. with CD’s but not with DVD’s

My DVD/CD/ROM works very well with CD’s on my e-machine T2824 but it has problem working with DVD’s. This I have established through troubleshooting. I need to use DVD’s for getting crucial video files. I need assistance on how to go about in diagnosing and treating the problem.

That may be a problem with the DVD drive itself and not the DVDs that you are trying to access. I will suggest that you use the following workaround for that issue:

• You will need to clean the DVD drive using CD lens cleaner.
• You will also need to check and verify if the DVDs that are refusing to be read are original for instance movies or are DVDs that you have just created yourself, for it is not logical for the DVD drive to read CDs and not read DVDs.
• You will also need to check and verify if that problem occurs when you try to read every DVD or just some of them, for the problem may be with the DVDs themselves.
• You will also need to try the DVDs on some other DVD drive on another computer, and if they cannot be read, you will just need to buy others.
