Can I edit the xml in my iTunes library to remove star rating on music files? It seems that my favorite tracks are having this auto-rating that I don’t really like and I’m not so keen about rating each album or tracks either. If yes, which of the codes in there I need to remove?

Follow the next steps
Go to your library
In your Playlist, Press Ctr+n
Give it a Name let’s say ‘My Songs ‘
Back to Music, Select all your music and then drag it to your new file ‘My Songs’

Right Click on it

There are two types of ratings (stars) in iTunes:
1. White (hollow) stars which iTunes assigns automatically and this represents the average rating of the album itself, based on the rating of all songs in it
2. Yellow (solid) stars are your ratings.
In iTunes 11 and later, you can select "Albums" on the top bar, right click on the albums one at a time, go to "Album rating" and then "Clear album rating".Â
