Encountered error while installing MS Office OneNote

I was unable to install Microsoft Office OneNote 2010 Stand-alone product. I am getting "Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component." I have previous Office installed on my computer. Is this okay or am I getting some compatibility issues due to the old MS Office installed on my computer? What can I do to fix this?

Help me please.

Encountered error while installing MS Office OneNote

Hello R,

This error is due to the installation program files of the earlier version of Microsoft office you had on your computer, I don't really know the version you had, But I believe the problem is that Office 2010 has failed to uninstall the earlier version of Office installed on your computer.

To solve it, Go to control panel and double click on add or remove programs.

Look for the earlier office program installed on your computer and click on Remove or Change.

After the uninstallation, go on and install Microsoft office 2010.

In case the problem persists, one of your office 2010 installation files may be corrupt, and so you will have to get another installation package, This is more likely to occur if you are using a CD or DVD, it may have a scratch.
