I am trying to install Microsoft Office 2000 to my Windows7, but I am having this error 1402.
It appears during the installation and I could not finish installing because of this.
I temporarily disable my antivirus and firewall thinking that it is blocking the installation process, but it’s not. I checked for any Microsoft Updates then manually install it. After restarting my computer for the changes to take effect, I still cannot continue.
I run the Disk Clean Up and clean the temporary files, but I really have no luck.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit OS with Pentium Dual Core T4200@ 2GHz, 2 GB RAM, Display Adapter: Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family.
I need to install MS – Office 2000 for my job. Is there a better way to fix the issue?
I tried running to a different profile.
I log out from my own profile as the administrator of my computer then run the installation disk of MS Office 2000 again, but I am still receiving the same error.
Does this error have something to do with a corrupt registry?
Because I’m seeing some registry key name. Â
How can I fix my registry?
Please help me.
Thanks in advance.
Error 1402 Could Not Open Key Error
 Hi James,
I have read the issue that you have installing MS Office 2000 on your windows 7.
I found out that the error is due to the conflicting software on the computer.
So the issue can be resolve by just checking the computer for softwares that might be conflicting with the MS Office 2000 that you’re installing.
The process is called clean boot up.
Steps to put your computer in clean boot:Â
1. Click StartÂ
2. Type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.Â
1. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.Â
2. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.Â
3. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.Â
4. Click OK.Â
5. When you are prompted, click Restart.Â
6. After the computer starts, check if you are still getting the same error.
