I need to install AutoCAD CIVIL 3D 2012 for my class with my 32-bit Windows XP PC. I used CIVIL 3D 2010 before and it works fine. I could not install CIVIL 2012 as I always end up getting Error 1406. How can I fix it? And also, can I use objects that I used in CIVIL 2010 with CIVIL 2012? Are they compatible? I need assistance. Thanks.

Error 1406 on AutoCAD CIVIL 3D 2012 Installation
Before installing Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012, make sure your computer meets all the requirements to run the program. Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 supports Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, Windows Vista (Enterprise, Business, or Ultimate edition) Service Pack 2, and Windows 7 (Enterprise, Ultimate, or Professional edition) both 32-bit and 64-bit.
It requires Intel Pentium 4 or faster processor with SSE2 support, 1 GB RAM for 32-bit and 4 GB RAM for 64-bit, 12 GB free had drive space, 1280 x 1024 True Color screen resolution, and DVD drive. Since you are using Microsoft Windows XP and it is supported by the program, make sure you are using Service Pack 3.
If you haven’t upgraded yet to this Service Pack, download Windows XP Service Pack 3 and upgrade your operating system. This is the latest and last Service Pack update for Microsoft Windows XP. Once you have upgraded, try installing AutoCAD again then see if it works. If this doesn’t fix it, try running the installer as administrator.
Right-click on the AutoCAD installer then point to “Run as” then select “Administrator”. This should allow you to run the installer with full permission.
