I encountered an error 8506,422 on Norton Internet Security 2012 when trying to perform a fresh installation on my new Windows Vista PC. I lost my internet connection since I got the error. And the only way to get the connection back is to uninstall the NIS 2012 again. How can I continue?

Microsoft Windows Vista is supported by Norton Internet Security 2012 so there is no need to check the compatibility of your operating system with Norton Internet Security 2012.
When “Error: 8506,422” appears when you are installing a Norton 2012 product, try closing all opened programs and then restart your computer. If restarting the computer did not help, download Norton Removal Tool.
This will remove all Norton 2003 and later versions from your computer including Norton 360 and Norton SystemWorks 12.0. But since you already uninstalled Norton Internet Security 2012 from your computer just to restore your internet connection, you still need to download the Norton Removal Tool to remove any broken pieces of the product that is causing the installation problem. If you have pcAnywhere or WinFax, uninstall it first before running the Norton Removal Tool using Windows’ Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.
If you have ACT! Or WinFax, make sure to backup the database before running Norton Removal Tool and be sure to have their installers so you can install them back afterwards.
After downloading Norton Removal Tool, double-click it to launch the program then follow the on-screen instructions.

Hello Fenton,
You may have altered the network settings in the process of installing the Norton Internet Security, and therefore you will need to verify and correct that.
-
On your computer, click on start, and then locate Computer and click on it.
-
After that, locate Network and then right click on it.
-
Choose properties, and then click on "Change Adapter Settings".
-
Locate "Local Area Connection" and then double click on it.
-
After that click on "Internet Protocol Version 4", and then check the settings and ensure that they are correct. If they are not you will need to change them accordingly.
Regards,
Carl

Before reinstalling Norton also make sure that there are no other anti-virus that are installed on your computer. If there is make sure to remove it first.
