Hello,

What this error means ? I have installed this antivirus on my sister PC and now when I want to install it on my laptop I have this error. I use the same installer on my PC also and the host failed. I have downloaded the installer again and is not working. How can I solve this ?

I think you forgot to check your laptop if it is connected to the internet when you install AVG. If AVG 2014 was successfully installed on your sister’s laptop then her computer is connected to the internet. If you are not aware, the installer that AVG provides for the free version of the AVG antivirus is an online installer. An online installer requires an active internet connection during the installation.

And that’s the reason why you are getting the problem with the host because your computer is not online. Plug your laptop to your router first and then restart the installation. If you want the offline installer for AVG 2014, download it from AVG 2014 for Windows x86. The offline installer is around 145 MB compared to the installer you have which is only around 4 MB.

With the offline installer, you don’t need an active internet connection when doing the installation because all the files needed are already in the installer unlike with the online installer. Just update AVG once the installation is finished.
