I tried to update windows but I keep getting an error, windows update error code 80246005. How to fix this error so that I can download updates?

Error Code Windows Update Error Code 80246005, Encountered While Updating Windows.

If you are getting windows update error 80246005 while checking for updates, it generally means that the catroot folder has some attribute problems or the cryptographic Services have stopped working. To fix this issue you can do the following things:

1. Open command prompt and type attribhsr and the file directory of the catroot2 folder(usually is in c drive in the folder windows and inside it is the system32 where you will find it)
2. Press enter, and then exit the command prompt window.

Open Administrative Tools from system and maintenance, double click on services and select windows update and then right-click on windows update and click start or restart as the options are available.

These should fix the issue.
