Error on deleting bulk mails in Outlook 2002

My operating system is Windows XP Professional and I am using Outlook 2002. I am trying to delete bulk old mails but I am receiving error message stating:

The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. I tried repairing in the Inbox Repair Tool like Scanpst.exe and successfully scanned the error, but it cannot repair and it just keeps on hanging.

Error on deleting bulk mails in Outlook 2002

Did you upgrade to Windows XP recently? Or did you reinstall Office XP? If your answer is yes to one of my questions, then the error is most likely to occur. To fix this issue, just install the Outlook 2002 update. This update fixes the known bugs and issues regarding Microsoft Outlook 2002. Just click to download the update.

 

Just follow the installation process after downloading it. Remember that after you install the update, you cannot remove it. To check if the update is successfully installed, click About Microsoft Outlook in the Help menu. The first line should look like this:
