Error in installing Skype for the first time

Hello Everyone,

I am encountering the error message “error 2738” when I am trying to install Skype for the first time.

I have used other options suggested like full un-install and re-install, but the same error message appears every time.

The full installer is either not helping fix this error which I have downloaded. 

Can anyone give me some idea on how to resolve this problem?

Error in installing Skype for the first time

Hello!

The problem you are facing is not with Skype alone, rather it is because of a faulty registration of a component of windows scripting.

The simplest solution is to download and execute an automatic fix released by Microsoft Its link If you want to fix the problem yourself, then the other simple solution is to go to command prompt by clicking Start > Run, then typing cmd in it, press enter.

Now type regsrv32 vbscript.dll and press enter Try installing Skype again. If it gives same error message then, you may have other incorrect file registrations. Follow these steps for all of them

1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.

2. Type regsvr32 %systemroot%system32vbscript.dll, and then press ENTER.

3. Type regsvr32 %systemroot%system32jscript.dll, and then press ENTER. 4.Type regsvr32 %systemroot%system32dispex.dll, and then press ENTER. 5.Type regsvr32 %systemroot%system32scrobj.dll, and then press ENTER. 6.Type regsvr32 %systemroot%system32scrrun.dll, and then press ENTER. 7.Type regsvr32 %systemroot%system32wshext.dll, and then press ENTER. 8.Type regsvr32 %systemroot%system32wshom.ocx, and then press ENTER.
