I need to use Java for running a specific type of the online calculator.

When I try to install it, it halts the setup with this error message. Does anybody know what to do with this error?

Howdy Miss DebbieM,

With your problem, I suggest un-install Java and then re-install it again. I think that the file you download is corrupt that's why you get that error. Then restart your computer after re-installing Java. Always remember to update your Java.

To update Java, just click Start, Control Panel and click the Java icon and check the box for auto update. I've encountered this kind of error before and I tried what I suggested you.

It really worked for me so I hope that it will work for you too.

Have a great day!

Scott

You simply need to download the file once again and then reinstall it on your computer. You might also want to scan your computer and check for viruses inside before doing anything like that again. It is possible that your system is infected, and it prevents the file to uncompressed. A system file might have been moved by a specific virus so try reinstalling your system. Do a system repair or format your whole system. Check other software if it still running properly.

Hope this helps your with your problem about the error. Just post here for more questions regarding about solving the problem.

I think your JRE installer is damaged. Normally, when you download an installer from a website, the executable file is just a compressed file that will unpack or extract files to a temporary folder in the system drive when it is launched and will begin the installation when all files have been extracted.

If you received this error when running the Java installer to install Java Runtime Environment, the installer encountered an error when it is extracting the files. A single error during the extraction phase will cause the entire operation to be canceled. If this is the case, try downloading the installer again from the website.

To download the installer again, visit Java Runtime Environment for All OS. Make sure to download the correct version for your computer. If you are using 64-bit Microsoft Windows, download the 64-bit offline version.
