Hello guys,
I have MS Office 2003 installed in my desktop computer. I am using PowerPoint for my upcoming presentations these days.
A day before yesterday, my co-partner (for presentation work) made a link in order to update the files of the presentation.
But yesterday when we tried to click the link, we received an unknown error message which states:
The linked file was unavailable and can't be updated
We searched this issue over the internet but of no avail.
Can you please give some idea on how to fix this issue? Our presentation is quite important.
Waiting for your reply!
Error “The linked file was unavailable” in PowerPoint
In a PowerPoint 2007 presentation, when you try to update the file location of linked OLE objects that are hosted on a network or on an HTTP Web site, you receive the following error message:
The linked file was unavailable and cant be updated.
-
To access the Links dialog box, click the Microsoft Office Button,
-
Point to Prepare,
-
Then click Edit Links to Files.
-
The Edit Links to Files option is available when the PowerPoint 2007 presentation contains links.
Error “The linked file was unavailable” in PowerPoint
Hi Andrew,
If the files you linked are of Excel or other format files which are saved on network, please follow these steps to remove the error appearing in MS PowerPoint 2003/2007:
1. Delete the earlier link,
2. Copy the linked file,
3. Paste it to your local drive,
4. Relink the file again in MS PowerPoint.
It shall work.

You have MS Office 2003 installed your computer. When you use power point then you face some problem. You look an error. I have one solution for you that you can change your MS Office. I remind your program has some missing.
So you must need new MS Office. You can download new MS Office and installed it and then you do not face this problem.
