When you are trying to sort e-mail messages, AOL is trying to access your Personal File Cabinet (PFC). He is unable to do that, and that is why that error shows up. You can try the following:

Restore your PFC from the backups made by AOL. The program makes a backup every four weeks. So you could try restoring it. Start the AOL software but don't login. Click the Mail menu, click Mail Settings. Manage Saved Mail and then click Restore.  Click YES, then save and your PFC is now restored.

If you are using AOL 8.0 or lower version, click File, then Filing Cabinet. After that, click Manage, Restore.

After that restart the software, sign in and do your job.

You should try again because that error could be just by accident or a random error and this is possible with any application. Start the program again then see if it works. If this doesn’t work, restart the computer then try again. See if this works. If this doesn’t work, uninstall and reinstall the application. Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install it.

Once installed, start Revo Uninstaller then select America Online among the applications and click “Uninstall”. Follow the normal uninstall process. When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and delete everything it finds. This removes everything the program created on your computer. When it is finished, close Revo Uninstaller then install America Online back.

See if this works. If the problem continues, try to update the program to the latest version. Try also checking if your internet connection is working.
