Hello,
When I try to play a WMA file in Windows Media Player, I receive the following message:
"Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file. For additional assistance, click Web Help."
When I click the Web Help button, I am directed to a webpage that tells me that I have encountered error code "C00D11B1".
Is there any way that I can solve this problem?
Thank you.
Error message while playing a WMA file in Windows Media Player
Hi,
If you see the message, you have to think about your sound device. Your sound card or sound controller requires an update driver. See Windows Update at the Microsoft Web site to determine if an update driver is available or see the sound device manufacturer's Web site.
Otherwise, see your sound device is not functioning properly. Try to use Device Manager to check the status of your sound device.Â
I think it will help you.

Error message while playing a WMA file in Windows Media Player
Hi Amelia,
This error is caused by your sound card having an unsigned sAPO that creates a registry key. However, altering the registry is risky if you are confident enough you can check the link here. OR try this other method: You can disable the decoder, on your Windows Media Player > Tools > Options > DVD > Advanced tab. Check if the sound format your are trying to play is disabled, if it is then select a decoder for that specific codec.
