Hi,
My work computer is experiencing issues with Adobe Acrobat Reader. Whenever I try to access some of my files, I receive error messages like "Acrobat could not open the file because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been corrupted." I would like to know whether I did something wrong with the program and if there is a way to fix it.

Error messages when trying to access Adobe Acrobat Reader
Acrobat Reader only opens document that has an extension name of .PDF (Portable Document Format). You can see an extension name of a file by 3 letters preceding the file name. Example Document.doc, which Document is the file name and  .doc is the extension name which classifies the file to be a word document. If you are having an error message the file cannot be opened, one reason is the file you are trying to open is not a PDF file. You must see first if the file is really a PDF file.
Another solution is to  check if your computer has virus, because some virus prevents documents to be opened and even programs to open. Update your antivirus with the latest virus definition and scan  your computer.
Sometimes it can be also an  error with the program, try to completely uninstall the program and reinstall the program. You can download the latest update of Adobe Acrobat Reader in www.get.adobe.com/reader.

Hi,

You just simply scan the adobe acrobat reader if there an corrupted files and then try to check or scan the system if there an infected files from the viruses or maybe spyware to your system just simply check on that and then try to download the latest version or always update your adobe acrobat reader and then if your unit doesn’t have an java application you just simply download that if it’s possible only and then try to download the error repair tools to and the after downloading the error repair tool and then you just simply install that to your PC and then you just simply restart your PC.
