An error occurred while opening codec in Sony Vegas Pro 11.

I am using Sony Vegas Pro 11 on Windows 7 64 bit and I am trying to open a .AVI file on it. Whenever I try to open this file I get this error that " An error occurred while opening a codec". Is there something wrong with my file? What does it mean by this error?

Hi, Garry!

 I think this could be the consequence of some codec packs you don’t uninstall correctly. It usually leaves something harmful on your computer, especially for video editing purpose. And you never notice it. Try to Install QuickTime Movie Player and K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. After Installing, Restart your computer and try to see if it works. If not, try to download Any Video Converter and then convert your whole video to .MP4 file or .WMV format, and then after converting, import the converted video into Sony Vegas.
