Error which says that ‘Scanner is not able to open’.

What is the bit of your Vista or Windows 7? Is it 32 bit or 64 bit? It seems the Cherry GmHB Fingerprint Scanner came only with windows XP driver. This is why it is not running in Windows vista or 7.

My suggestions are:

a. Right click the main scanner setup file in Windows vista or 7 and click ‘Run as administrator’. After the setup is complete, right click the main scanner *.exe file, and click properties. Click the compatibility tab.

From the first option, change the mode in Windows XP service 2. In the bottom area, click on ‘Run as Administrator’ option. Click Apply/OK & exit properties.

b. Go to the ‘GmBH-site’ and download the recommended driver for Windows Vista or 7.

c. Contact/E-mail/Phone Company for how to get the Scanner driver in person.

Since that is a keyboard with built-in special features, it will still work as a keyboard even if you don’t install the software. The only functions that will not work or will be disabled are for the smart card reader and for the fingerprint scanner. Normal keyboard operations should work even if these features are disabled. This product usually includes the installation CD in the package.

On the other hand, if the software included in the installation CD is not compatible with your computer, try downloading it from the manufacturer’s website. See the packaging of the product and look for the URL of the website then download the keyboard software from there. That’s the best place to look for the driver.

If your keyboard model doesn’t have a compatible driver for your operating system, buy a different keyboard or change your operating system to the one supported by the product.
