Error while updating MS PowerPoint Viewer 2003

Good day! I am using Microsoft PowerPoint viewer 2003 on my pc. But when I try to update my software it doesn’t get finished and shows a message with an error code as like Error code 0x4397. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled, but still showing as previous. Is there anyone who can help me with this? Thanks.

Hi,

The reason the PPV 2003 is not getting updated seems to be the constrain when you do not retain the original installation file at the time of installation. Now please check if you have deleted the original installation file, (even at the time of Re-Installation of PPV 2003). If yes, then you should again Uninstall the PPV2003, and Re-Install, but this time “please Retain the installation file”.

Now try to update, and you will have no issues.

However, what I suggest is that you migrate to PPV2007 version. Microsoft no longer is providing the PPV2003, and it is also not present in their download centre.

So, when you Uninstall the PPV2003, you can download the PPV2007 from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6

The advantage of PPV2007 is that it works for PPV2003 files as well as the new version, furthermore, it does not require you to retain the original installation files.
