ERROR_INSTALL_PACKAGE_OPEN_FAILED 1619 This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and is accessible, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

I am having some trouble installing programs like Adobe reader, QuickTime, and iTunes. I am running vista x64 SP1 and just updated my windows installer to version 4.5.

ERROR_INSTALL_PACKAGE_OPEN_FAILED 1619 This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and is accessible, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

What do I do now?

ERROR_INSTALL_PACKAGE_OPEN_FAILED 1619 This installation package could not be opened

Hello Olivia,

That could be happening because the installation package that you are trying to run is corrupted.

Also make sure that it available in the location that you are trying to execute if from.

If it is no there you will need to download it afresh and save it at a place you can easily trace like the desktop.
