ERROR_PATCH_PACKAGE_INVALID 1636 This patch package could not be opened

ERROR_PATCH_PACKAGE_INVALID 1636 This patch package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package.

I uninstalled office 2000 and after installing SR-1a.  Then I tried to reinstall office 2000 from CD I get

“This patch package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package." With an error code 1636 ERROR_PATCH_PACKAGE_INVALID.

When I try to uninstall SR-1a thru control panel I get the same error message. No Office 2000 related files in windows/installer. It seems that when I try to reinstall o2k it thinks I am trying to install SR1a and when I try to install SR-1a it finds no original office 2000 install.

How do I get office 2000 reinstalled? Thanks.

ERROR_PATCH_PACKAGE_INVALID 1636 This patch package could not be opened

 

There is an error on your installing procedure. First you should not uninstall your office 2000. You must installing SR1a with office 2000 installed first.  Then another thing is you must have the Newest version of Windows that can accommodate your SR1a files. You must update your windows to accommodate that following. You must delete all registry directories about Sr1a and your old office 2000 you can use CCleaner to repair your registry and to delete an unnecessary registry
