I need to know about whether the Ethernet Controller Intel Chipset I217 is Compatible with the Intel 82579 GbE Controller. I need to know about its performance enhancing features, So please do the needful for providing me the detailed description on Intel Ethernet Controller I217.

Ethernet Controller Intel Chipset I217

The Intel Ethernet Controller Chipset I217 is compatible with the Intel 82579 GbE Controller.  It has following performance enhancing features:

1. Advanced interrupt handling features: The chipset provides advanced interrupt-handling features to reduce CPU overhead. It further help in improving speed.

2. Improved Internet Protocol: It provides offloading TCP/UDP checksum calculations along with TCP segmentation. This improves the transport protocols for both IPv4 and IPv6.

3. It allows large packets to transfer through its features such as Jumbo Frame support and Receive side scaling.

4. Ethernet Controller I217 reduces power requirements, leading to energy savings. It utilizes low power management support as well as reduces power consumption in all power states.
