I have Dell XPS 17 Laptop running on WINDOWS 7 but I cannot connect to the internet.
The Wifi is also not working, I have connect the router but it says there is no internet connection.
I have tried to reinstall the driver but it doesn't work.
I have recently format the computer also, still facing same problem.
It seems like I am having Ethernet driver problem.
How can I fix this?

Ethernet Issue on Dell XPS 17 Laptop Running Windows XP
Hi Hannah Spiers,
You have come to the right place. You can easily resolve the issue by following method.
-
First you have to check that you have installed all essential drivers for your WiFi connection from your motherboard CD.
-
For dell laptop you have install DWLAN driver from your laptop driver CD.
-
Then Go to the Dell official website and figure out the latest driver for your Ethernet Driver and download and install it.
-
If you will not able to install it then try third party software to install it.
-
After installing it restart your computer.
-
If the problem still exists then you have to update your BIOS version.
I hope your problem will be resolved.

Ethernet Issue on Dell XPS 17 Laptop Running Windows XP
Hello Hannah,
You are absolutely correct, you are facing problem regarding your Ethernet device driver.
You must have got a disk of device drivers when you purchased your laptop,
This disk contains all the original device drivers that are needed.Go through that disk, you will find Ethernet device drive in front.Install it and then once you are connected to internet update those drivers and your laptop will work smoothly.
I hope this will help you,

Ethernet Issue on Dell XPS 17 Laptop Running Windows XP
As you are using Dell XPS 17 Laptop so i would like to recommend to go to the website of Dell products which address is http://www.dell.com/en-us/.
You can use internet from the computer of your friend to find an appropriate and best quality driver for Ethernet controller. After going to Dell website just enter your service tag no in tag box and you will get all the possible software's and drivers for your system. You can copy these drivers into a USB and then install to your Laptop.
This is the best solution of your problem, otherwise you can buy a universal drivers CD or DVD from near market and install the required Ethernet drivers on your Laptop.
