Everything semi-hangs while downloading and copying files

Hi! I have been having this problem for the past couple of months where my computer, a Dell XPS 8700 with 16 GB RAM, Windows 8.1 hangs temporarily. The whole system is unresponsive for a few seconds, responds and then unresponsive again while downloading or copying large files. This cycle is recurrent up to the completion of the downloading or copying and then the computer goes back to normal. My McAfee antivirus informs me there is no virus either.

Hi,

 

I would suggest you to run the “Dell Diagnostics” to check the hardware functionality of your laptop. For this, you have to follow these steps:

 

·         Firstly, “Power off” the laptop.

·          After that restart the laptop.

·          Press the “F12” key on your Dell laptop.

·         After that, select “Diagnostics” from the boot menu of your laptop. 

 

And, if it hangs again, I will suggest you to uninstall this old Windows and install a new Windows in your laptop.
