Excel 2013 crashes as soon as i scroll

I have excel 2013, and it crashes too often and reopens in an Excel safemode.

I checked to see if i had any addons or codes but have none

This happens with every excel file i open let it be a new one or an old one.

I deleted the XLStart file just to be sure it gets fine again.

This Office 2013 copy was downloaded and all others work. Outlook and Word is just fine.

I replaced the mouse to make sure its not the scroll issue of my existing mouse.

Hi Kfira,

To solve this type of problem you need to follow some steps.

Try the process below and check the effect:

  • First of all, uninstall all the updates specific to EXCEL 2013 & Office 2013.  Also  disable the Hardware Graphic Acceleration & check the effect:
  • Next open Excel.
  • Then Click on file Options.
  • Now go to the “Advanced tab”.
  • And under the “Display” section, uncheck the box for “Disable hardware graphics acceleration”.
  • Next click “OK”.

If the above methods fails, take a back-up of that “OSF.DLL file” &  delete it.

“C:Program FilesMicrosoft Office 15rootOffice15OSF.DLL”

Or

“C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice15OSF.DLL”

Once the file is deleted open Excel and check, hope you will not face any problem anymore.

Also I will recommend you to visit this page if your problem is persisting.

Cheers.

Hi Kfira,

I suggest you to try disabling "Animate controls and elements inside windows”. To disable it, you have to:

1. Go to Control Panel

2. Click System

3. On the left navigation, click 'Advanced System Settings'.

4. Click 'Advanced' Tab.

5. Click ‘Settings’, under the ‘Performance’ box.

6. On Visual Effects Tab, clear “Animate controls and elements inside windows” checkbox.

7. Click Apply.

I hope this will help you to solve your problem.

Regards,

Martine Paul
