Excel file is not opening in Office 2013

Hi MS Office Experts,

 

I have xlsx files that open in Office 2010 without any problems but if I try opening the same files with Office 2013 I encounter this error message below. Can anyone help me fix this problem?

 

Excel cannot complete this task with available resources. Choose less data or close other applications.

Excel file is not opening in Office 2013

Hi Grace W Runyon,
I faced this situation before for the same extension which is causing conflict with Office 2013. I was able to fix it by simply saving my file with another extension (.lsx) which can be easily opened by both versions of Office.

Excel file is not opening in Office 2013

Hey,

As you stated above that you are not able to open .xlsx files in office 2013. It’s because the file format or the file extension is not valid or verified i.e. the file is not corrupted and the extension matches the format of the file. 

 

You can fix it by saving file in another extension which can be easily opened by both versions of Offices or try installing the compatibility pack.
