Hello there,
My name is Carl from the University of Nairobi, currently doing a personal project on Microsoft server for exchange 2007.
I am implementing a virtual server from a VM software in the same machine as my windows opera rating system.Â
When I am attempting to run an MMC (Microsoft management console) snap in, I receive the following error;
MMC
The snap-in below, referenced in this document, has been restricted by policy.
Contact your administrator for details.
Exchange Server 2007.
I have tried again and again to do it, but the same error comes up. Now I need help to eliminate this problem.Â
Please.
Thank you.

Exchange server 2007 policy restriction to access
With this error: MMC. “The snap-in below, referenced in this document has been restricted by policy .Contact your Administrator for details. Exchange Server 2007, I can’t really give you the exact solution but we could try several things to see if it works.
First try checking if the some important services are running. Services like:
Ø COM+ System Application
Ø COM+ Event System
Ø DCOM Server Process Launcher
Ø Windows Event Log
Ø Windows Event Collector
Ø System Event Notification Service
Ø RPC Endpoint Mapper
Ø Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Ø Credential Manager
Make sure that everything is started.
Also make sure that you have Administrator or full access to your system32 and its sub folder. Check under C:windowssystem32.
This error may also happen if a program associated with MMC snap-in was removed and leaves remnants in your system’s registry or if you’re using MMC 3.0.
Try:
Go to Start>Run>type MMC. Then on the window opened, click File>Add/Remove Snap-in>Add>under Available standalone snap-ins list, choose WMI Control and Ok. See if that would work.
