Voice over Internet Protocol or VoIP is a phone assistance over the net. If you are using an excellent internet connection, you can be able to have a phone service provided through the internet instead of using your regular phone company.

Many people are using VoIP together with their usual phone service because VoIP providers offers lower fees than the long-established phone companies. However, they don't have 911 service, phone directories, 411 service and other usual phone services. Though many VoIP providers that delivers this kind of services, reliable industry-wide are still working on it.

VoIP can make the typical internet connection to place a free phone call. The feasible result of it is that utilizing free VoIP programs means you are trying to bypass the whole phone company charges.

In general phone service via VOIP costs less than equivalent service from traditional sources. This is largely a function of the common phone services either being dominated or government entities. There are also some cost savings due to using a single network to carry voice and data. This is especially true when users have existing under-utilized network capacity that they can use for VOIP without any additional costs.

In the most extreme case, users see VOIP phone calls (even international) as FREE. While there is a cost for their Internet service, using VOIP over this service may not involve any extra charges, so the users view the calls as free. There are a number of services that have sprung up to facilitate this type of "free" VOIP call. Examples are: Free World Dialup and Skype.

Explanation of how Voip works

VOIP is a phone service provided through Internet connections.

The acronym means “Voice Over Internet Protocol” and in many cases allows users to benefit from phone calls at lower cost or quasi-free if the network is not used at maximum capacity.

Since Internet is paid anyway, adding this service makes calls cheaper because the phone company is bypassed.
