External hardware not being recognized

Hello, I have an external hard drive that is not being recognized.  I recently upgraded my MAC to OS 10.10 and since then, I cannot seem to locate it.  It sounds as if it is running and all systems are a go, but then it is not recognized.  Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips for me?  It is not full so that is not the issue.  Thank you.

External hardware not being recognized

Hi, Daniel C Funderburk you check the connection try to move your hard drive to a different port, check if your hard drive has a power it will make a vibrating sound so you will know that power is running your hard disk. After that go to your bios and check if your Disk drive is being read or not those things are important to check if your disk drive is still fit for your operating system or it needs a new one.
