The steps to resolve this issue is to install update rollup 2883201. Some other methods to fix this error are as follows:

Method 1:

Delete the content of the Software Distribution folder.
Step 1: Right-click on the Windows key and select Command Prompt as an admin.
Step 2: Click on the “Yes” on the pop-up window.
Step 3: Write the following commands:
net stop wuauserv
del
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\DataStore.edb
