I usually download games from internet. Mostly my download is 500Â MB. I have a fast connection at home of around 5Â Mbps. Now, why does it take me time to download this small file size, like up to 4 hours.
What’s the problem here? I have a fast connection and it still takes me time.
Fast internet connection with slow download speed
Hi Lyle,
You must check whether your internet speed is alright. Go to this site to check your internet speed: http://www.speedtest.net/
If something is wrong with your internet speed, then you have to contact your ISP. It's their job to make sure you receive the internet speed you were promised.
Download speed depends on the speed the download server is uploading the files to you. The server must have had heavy traffic, while you were downloading the file making the download speed very low. Or it could be that the server is having some trouble. Resume the download at another time and see whether it is alright.

Actually there are some websites or file hosts that have limited download speeds (upload in their side). Even if you have a high speed internet subscription, if the source could not give you the maximum speed, you will not enjoy the maximum download speed of your internet subscription.
The best thing you can do about this is to test your speed. Just find a speed test web site to check your upload and download link. Google may help you searching about this.
Most of the internet service providers passed a speed of 60% of speed you have subscribed. If you find that your speed is below their standard, it’s time to call for service. Tell them your findings, so that they will give you a technician to fix the problem.

Fast internet connection with slow download speed
Hello,
May be your hardware linking to your computer is deprived and maybe the modem-router is not organized flawlessly. You might also be having spyware/malware on your computer that may be covertly using your Internet bandwidth.
Just always crisscross you linking to your internet. If possible check with the Internet Service provider about the speed, or if the domain name is invalid. Your Internet service provider can check that.

Hello Lyle,
You can try restarting your computer to refresh the network settings and see if that could solve the problem.
Otherwise the router might have been disconnected or gone into sleep mode, hence not able to connect to the internet. Restart the router to refresh the network settings too.
If you are using a wireless network connection, check if the signal strength is strong enough, if it is not then move to a place that has the strongest signal strength and then try connecting to the internet again.
