Hello There! I have a ready Network Attached Storage 2100 using iSCSI on Win Server 2008 R2 and it is available for users to write their data into. I want to back up these files to another storage but it seems so slow to do this. What is the best way to do a fast backup. Â
Faster way to backup NAS
The duration of doing a backup on a drive or a hard drive entirely depends on the size of the drive and the total amount of data it stores. If you do the backup via local area network, the speed of the backup or the data transfer is affected by the current network traffic because you are sharing the network with other users in the local area network.
If you have a busy network in your office, you will have a slow backup process. If this happens, you can shorten the backup process by connecting the backup drive to the server. It is always faster to copy files locally instead of copying them over the network. When the backup drive is connected to the server, you can do the backup there.
This way, the files won’t be travelling over different connections on the network which takes time before it reaches its destination or the drive.
